IAS and DoubleVerify Just Expanded to TikTok Search and GMV Max. Your Q4 Excuse Is Gone.

IAS, Zefr, and DoubleVerify are expanding third-party measurement to TikTok Search, GMV Max, Smart+ Traffic, and TikTok Lite. DoubleVerify earned the first-ever MRC accreditation for TikTok Video Viewability. The measurement gap that kept performance marketers skeptical of TikTok's numbers is closing on the formats that actually matter for e-commerce.

IAS and DoubleVerify Just Expanded to TikTok Search and GMV Max. Your Q4 Excuse Is Gone.

The measurement objection just got smaller

The reason most serious performance marketers have kept TikTok at a small percentage of their budgets isn't creative format or audience quality. It's measurement. Third-party verification, the kind that holds up in a channel allocation conversation with a CFO, has been patchy on TikTok's newer ad products. That's been changing, and the latest round of updates closes the two gaps that actually mattered.

Marketing Dive reported today that IAS is extending its Total Media Quality coverage to four additional TikTok ad products: TikTok Search, Smart+ Traffic, TikTok Lite in the US, and GMV Max in the US. Zefr is adding its brand safety, invalid traffic detection, and category measurement to the same formats simultaneously.

The DoubleVerify move is the one worth paying attention to. DoubleVerify received Media Rating Council accreditation for TikTok Video Viewability — the first vendor to earn MRC accreditation specifically for that metric on TikTok. The company also extended its Authentic Attention product to TikTok campaigns at the impression level, which means you can now apply the same attention benchmarks you use on YouTube to TikTok video creative.

All three moves follow TikTok's January 2026 US operational spinoff from ByteDance. Rebuilding advertiser confidence as a US joint venture required closing the measurement gap with platforms that have had MRC-accredited verification for years.

Why GMV Max coverage changes the math

IAS and Zefr already covered parts of TikTok's standard In-Feed inventory. The gap that made performance buyers uncomfortable was on the automation layer — campaigns where TikTok's system decides placement, creative distribution, and audience targeting without you approving each decision.

GMV Max is the core of that automation layer. When you can't independently verify delivery on your highest-volume TikTok campaign type, saying your brand safety parameters held is a hollow claim. IAS covering GMV Max changes that.

For DTC brands that have been running GMV Max while relying entirely on TikTok's dashboard for measurement, you now have a way to run a parallel verification layer. For brands that pulled GMV Max off the plan specifically because of the measurement gap, this is worth revisiting before Q4 CPMs reflect increased competition.

TikTok Search now has the verification stack

The IAS expansion to TikTok Search is the second significant piece. US consumers increasingly use TikTok search for product research — beauty, supplements, and home goods have been the primary growth categories. Running TikTok search inventory with IAS Total Media Quality coverage means you can evaluate that placement with the same measurement framework you'd apply to Google Shopping.

Search plus GMV Max, both now third-party verified, makes TikTok look more like a complete performance channel than a reach supplement. That distinction matters for how budgets get allocated in Q4 planning.

TikTok's US ad revenue is forecast above $17 billion for 2026, according to industry projections, with roughly 136 million unique US users. The platform isn't a niche bet at this point. What's been holding back serious performance budget is the measurement conversation, and that conversation is harder to have when you're relying exclusively on the platform's own reporting.

Four things to confirm before adding spend

First, verify your account has access to IAS or DoubleVerify coverage for the specific formats you're running. The expansions are live for the named ad products, but implementation varies by market and account tier. Your TikTok rep or measurement partner contact can confirm which formats are covered.

Second, test DoubleVerify Authentic Attention if your creative decisions rely on attention metrics. You can now compare TikTok video attention data directly against YouTube benchmarks, which makes creative length and hook decisions comparable across both platforms for the first time.

Third, check your Smart+ Traffic campaigns. If you've been running Smart+ without IAS coverage, you now have the option to close that gap.

Fourth, don't let measurement confidence outrun your creative pipeline. Better measurement tells you what's happening. It doesn't produce better creative. If your TikTok content is thin, the data will document underperformance more precisely, not change it. Creative volume and format-native production still determine whether the spend works.

Third-party measurement doesn't make TikTok a safe bet. It removes the excuse for not finding out.
